EQUIPMENT REMOVAL & INSPECTION
Our first step is removing the old interior and sending out the engines to be overhauled. Then it’s time for an in-depth inspection of the airframe, begin the repairs and upgrades to the airframe, and remove the old avionics, wires, and servos.

RAM Aircraft overhauled the IO-550C engines, while a local shop overhauled the props. After spending months trying to find replacement parts for the Woodward prop governors, we were pleased to hear that McCauley governors are listed as a suitable replacement on the STC.

New windows, avionics wire harnesses, and Ci&ES digital fuel senders were installed. Landing light & tail light covers were polished, the battery drain port was sealed off, and obsolete antennas were removed.
See All PhotosAVIONICS PANEL & FLIGHT CONTROLS
Once the layout of the avionics panel was finalized, the test panel was cut and evaluated. When everything was confirmed to be correct, the final panel was cut and installed. The final pieces before the aircraft was ready for paint included installation of the newly powder coated yoke and SoundEx super soundproofing insulation.

The old paint is stripped off the airframe and any minor repairs to the metal surface are completed. Alodine and green sealer are then applied for corrosion protection and to improve paint adhesion. Control surfaces, inspection covers and many other parts are removed and painted off-line.
